What is STEM Racing?

STEM racing — formerly F1 in Schools — is a global, Formula 1-endorsed STEM challenge where student teams design, manufacture, and race miniature F1 cars, powered by compressed CO2, down a 20-metre track. Running for over 25 years across 65+ countries, it gives students an authentic F1 team experience, taking on roles like designer, engineer, manufacturing strategist, and team principal while applying CAD, CFD, CNC manufacturing, and sponsorship skills to build the fastest, best-engineered car.

Teams progress from Regional to National Finals, with a shot at the STEM Racing World Finals, held alongside an F1 Grand Prix. Judging covers car speed, engineering, manufacturing quality, presentation, and branding — making it a test of both speed and teamwork.

Our Team

Team Xcelera is an all-girls STEM racing team built on the belief that engineering, design, and motorsport innovation know no gender. Bringing together six students with diverse strengths in strategy, design, manufacturing, creativity, and outreach, Xcelera operates like a true Formula 1 organisation — every member holds a defined role and responsibility, working collaboratively to design, engineer, and race a competition-ready miniature F1 car while building a brand, securing partnerships, and creating impact in our community.

As young women in a field that has historically been male-dominated, Team Xcelera is proud to be carving out space for girls in STEM and motorsport engineering — proving that ambition, precision, and innovation belong to everyone.
